On 30 August ARC Racing Returns To Great Yarmouth

The Arena Racing company (ARC) will be returning to Great Yarmouth Racecourse on 30 August, 2015. This was as a result of the review done on race track surface conditions carried out by ARC.

Together with British Horseracing Authority (BHA) and Professional Sportsturf Design, the Great Yarmouth Racecourse and ARC’s executive have decided to give the track an additional month for the field to grow and strengthen before the race could commence. This will maintain the track since it will be lightly raced with six fixtures in 2015. This includes three-day eastern festival that will be held in September.

As such, the advanced start date guarantees that the track will be safe and fair racing surface for jockeys and horses, which is an important factor in relation to the project completion and recommencement of the race. In addition to that, it ensures the track withstands the racing throughout the 2015 season and that the £300,000 invested by ARC will achieve its long-term objective of assuring the racecourse will have the best straight turf mile tracks in the country for many years.

The reopening of ARC racing is required to pass BHA inspection that includes a trial gallop in mid-August. Six fixtures are also expected to take place at the Great Yarmouth racecourse before 30 August 2015.

On a statement given by the ARC racing Director, Jon Pullinsaid: “Just as we always say, we are committed in ensuring each of our racecourses provides the best possible conditions for horses to race regardless the surface. Therefore, as we are focused in recommencing the racing at Great Yarmouth, this can only happen if we are confident that the racing surfaces are safe and secure for jockeys and horses. For now, we are confident that the extra month of growth will ensure the track will be ready for August.”

The Executive director of Great Yarmouth, GlennTubby said: “ We are very grateful for the patience our annual members, racegoers, horsemen as well as sponsors have shown and we are pleased to confirm the recommencement of the racing on 30 August and we look forward to great years of racing.”
