It seems that Sammy Jo Bell will spend a lot more time out of the game than the expected time. This is due to the accident which occurred to her at Carlisle when a rider accidentally fractured her pelvis a week ago. She is now expected to spend six weeks in a wheelchair. Unfortunately that was the time Bell was expected to be out of activity but doctors said surgery wouldn’t be necessary as it was said that a plate would be inserted to reinforce her pelvis. This made the date on which shed be out in action unknown.
Sammy Jo Bell got injured when her mount Duchess reared, departing out of the show ring and fell on her on Thursday. Bell said that there’s nothing she could do to her problem or fasten her healing. She said that the only thing she could do at that particular time was to wait and get on with it. She also added that she will do anything she can to heal quickly as possible because she needed to get back in action. She also said that she hadn’t discussed with the surgeon what she can do and what she can’t do. This is due to the fact that she hadn’t seen the surgeon since the operation. Continuing she said that, though she knows that she can’t do anything with her legs, she doesn’t know if she can do anything with any part of her upper body so as to keep her fitness up. Bell who’s Richard Fahey`s young leaner shown last summer as she became the first female rider to be coroneted as leading jockey during the Shergar Cup added saying that “There’s never an ideal time to get injured , but the middle of the season had to be the worst.”
She concluded by saying that she’s happy to be alive because she knows something terrible than that could have happened because it was a nasty moment. To sum up everything she assured people that once she’s out of the wheelchair shell get into rehab and try to get back to the game. She ended by saying she didn’t have a target at the moment but was only looking forward to getting better.
