Saratoga race course is rated among the best tracks in America. It’s history, aura and glamour is incomparable. America has very few such fascinating tracks. It fully justifies it’s appellation(s) ‘The Spa’ and ‘Graveyard of Champions’.
It’s been a little over 150years since the Saratoga race course was opened in 1863 and is so far the third oldest track in America after Pleasanton Fairgrounds Racetrack and Freehold Raceway. This thoroughbred horse racing track is uniquely and strategically located in Saratoga Springs, New York and can hold up to fifty thousand people. Some of the great amusements of Saratoga Springs include the National Museum of racing and the Saratoga Battlefield. The first Saratoga thoroughbred meet lasted only four days. The meet has progressively increased over the years to 40days of racing.
On 22nd July, this year’s meet will kick off and conclude on 5th September, Labor Day. Its scheduled to commence with an opening day ceremony and expected to bear pleasant and exciting moments through the 40days. With 69 stakes races, this year’s meet has captivated the finest horses in America. High grate and first rate runners will be competing. It is unlikely that there will be second rate and amateurish horses on the grounds. Some adrenaline rush for the summer!
The two major races of the meet will be experienced on 6th August and 27th August, The Whitney Stakes and The Travers Stakes respectively. They are both worth a prize of 1.25million dollars each given that they are first grade races. There will be other interesting races and competitions through the 40days of the meet that are inclusive.
The Saratoga race course is one the historic races that is a must see.
