Rory Mcllroy missed on the Irish Open again but has the rain and wind to blame

Harrington who is a three time major champion on Wednesday predicted that Sunday would see an Irish player lift the trophy and the most likely contender would be Mcllroy.

Mcllroy only added 71 to his 80 opening at the Windswept Royal County down. Harrington was left a shot off the lead shared by English pair Chris Wood and Tyrrell Hattton, Richie Ramsay from Scotland, Bernd Wiesberger from Austria and Soren Kjeldsen from Denmark.

Mcllroy followed up his victory with a 7-shot victory in the WGC-Cadillac Match play at the Wells Fargo Championship. He missed the cut in defending his BMW PGA Championship title at Wentworth. He pointed out that rain, wind and the links to golf did not work to his best.

This 26 year-old golfer thought he would make a cut when he made his first birdie of the week and the 7th with another on the 12th to thin a pitch on the 15th and 3-putt for a double bogey.

He said that he did his best but he could not make a proper run on the holes. He had made a promise of making a donation to his foundation for the prize money he had won but this will not materialize which leaves him with a lot to work on.

He acknowledges that the support is amazing but it will be sad because they will not see him playing. So, if you were to be on Mcllroy, you should wait for two weeks until the US open starts.

After the interview with the media, Mcllroy was in his car heading back home to Hollywood but his duties as the host to the tournament prevent him from advancing to Florida. He said that this was not an excuse for him.
