Cricket needs to make some bold strokes and change their test structure

Nepal will have their first home test after campaigning for it for a number of years. This is happening down at Kathmandu’s new stadium where England captain Joe Root is getting ready to make history. There are a number of fans in the stadium and Root’s team comprise of a number of players such as high-ranked players comprising of the captain and Ben Stokes, and others such as Sam Curran and Jamie Overton who are going to greater heights. Nepal has a very good reputation in associate cricket and has received rewards for it. The ICC has come forth to fulfil their promise even though many had doubts. New nations were one of the solutions to reviving Test cricket by the chief executive, David Richardson seven years ago.

This pledge by David Richardson has proved to work and this is visible through a number of filled houses such as Kathmandu, Kabul and Dublin. An ICC annual general meeting is due to take place in Edinburg and there will be discussions on a new format for Test cricket that Richardson has already discussed. They will comprise of promotion and relaxation. Former Black Caps captain came forward to urge cricket players to give their best in order to improve. He was backed up by Sri Lanka great Kumar Sangakkara who said that players who participate in Test cricket will only prevail when they play against the best nations.

Very few fans are available for Test cricket matches around the globe. There are increasing day and night, pink-ball Tests after the match that was held last year between Australia and New Zealand which took place in Adelaide. Over 125,000 fans attended the game which lasted up to three days. Oldest format cricket is being campaigned for and two divisions with high rewards for the top management should be responsible for campaigning for the old formats. They should aim to inspire other nations who have passion for the game. Government interference has made the Cricket Association of Nepal to become suspended.

Cricket will be played in 7-10 years’ time if time if things are done differently this is according to the chief executive BhawanaGhimire as he addressed Standard Sport. ICC has a number of countries who are quite interested in cricket considering the number of people who are interested in cricket in Nepal. 10,000 people attended the two cricket games hosted in Nepal against Namibia in the World Cricket League. In order for cricket to thrive, people should not look in to the disadvantages but the advantages associated with it.
