After leaving Ferrari in 2009, Kimi Raikkonen returned back in 2013 where he signed for a two year contract. With this contract set to expire, the Finn claims that he would like to continue with his F1 carrer and hope that Ferrari would add him an extra contract. He had a massive entry in F1 with Ferrari when he won the world title in 2007 but of late he has been faced by out of form situations which have led him finishing 12 in last year’s edition of the Driver’s Championship.
His out of form would no longer be a question as Ferrari has now improved his 2015 car. This was claimed by his team mate Sebastian Vettel. Vettel is improving greatly of late being only 48 points behind Raikkonen. He scooped the Malaysian Grand Prix and has won four of the seven events he has been involved in. on the other hand, Raikkonen has only won once and didn’t finish his previous race staged in Austria after a collision with ex-teammate Fernado Alonso.
In spite of all these ups and downs, Raikkonen is confident that Ferrari would accord him with an extra contract up to 2016. He claimed that all would be based upon the remedies that Ferrari would take. He added that he submit hi request and all the company has to do is to sign it.
He added that if he doesn’t get another contract, he would be forced to shift to another team as he was reluctant to hang his career this year. Hi love for F1 had been his number one motivation in every event he takes part. He added that F1 is not always amusing when incidents such as collision happen. He hoped that what happened between him and Alonso in Austria would be the last incident. He said that he has the freedom to walk away from the team and in the future he sees him battling against this team for the good of himself and the team he would be representing.
After Austria Raikkonen heads for the British Grand Prix from which he is expected to win the race. However, he faces stiff competition from home boy and reigning world champion Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg.
