What bettors are predicting for the Rugby World Cup

The long awaited event is here with us and it will take six weeks for punters to engage in live betting for the event across all bookmakers. The Rugby World Cup 2015 kicks off this Friday with host England Entertaining mighty Fiji in match one. There are 20 teams in total but the big question is where you as a bettor will place your money?

As per now, many gamblers are betting on England, France, South Africa and New Zealand booking places in the semi finals with the most anticipated final match on 31st of October sees England take on New Zealand. However, Spreadex thinks that New Zealand will be crowned the tournament’s winner.

The outright Index awards points to teach on basis of their performance and the position they are at the end of the tournament. The winner is awarded 100 points, runners up 80 points, third place 60, fourth place 50, and losers in the quarter finals are accorded with 25 points each while third place and fourth placed teams in the group stages are given 10 and 5 points respectively. On that note, All Blacks lead the platform with 74-77 points whereas host England come in second with 52-55 points.

In essence England will also face Wales (21-24) and Australia (43-46) with only two slots for advancing in the knockout stage. Hence, England must finish at least fourth overall to earn 55 points for a bettor to win. However, many believe that home advantage will propel the team to the semis.

Ireland are not expected by many buyers to reach the semis with 48-51 but punters attention is on South Africa 49-52 and France 37-40. Amazingly, USA who are in the same group with Japan, Scotland, Samoa and South Africa and have index of 1.5-3.0 can pull out a major surprise and if they finish fourth in their group a punter would earn triple his initial wage.

The tournament spread market has been awarded Total Tournament Points spread of 2430-2480 with Total Tournament Tries at 273-283. This is in comparison with three past edition with Total points of 2245 in 2011, 2478 in 2007 while 2835 in 2003. On the other hand, tries of the event were as follows; 262 in 2011, 296 in 2007 and 332 in 2003. This years’ edition can resemble that of 2003 and hence Spreadex has settled for 283 Total Tries.
