Federer earns a calm win at home town Basel

Things were not going on well with former world number one Roger Federer some years back as he went from a prominent superstar to a demising one. This cost him much as he was displaced from the number one spot by Serbian Novak Djokovic. However, he would later regain his form and with rigorous practice he managed to maintain a third spot behind Djokovic and Murray.

On Tuesday, he portrayed the old renowned Federer with an amazing and stunning victory over Mikhail Kukushkin from Kazakhstan. This was a lovely start as the ATP legend player eyes on scooping the seventh title of the many events held at his home nation.

Before returning home this week, the world number two suffered a shock defeat at the hands of Spaniard unheralded Albert Ramos Vinolas. This was unbelievable to many to see the veteran player being knocked out by a lower seeded player in the very initial stage of the Shanghai Masters. Nonetheless, his return home came to a redemption as he demolished Kukushkin 6-1, 6-2 in an anticipated and entertaining match that saw him took just 55 minutes to kick the Kazakhstan player out of the tournament. He started at a high note and with home fan base backing him, he led the initial set by 5-0 and the trend would continue in the second set to clinch the match in a short period.

On the other hand, Rafael Nadal will lock horns with Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov who thrashedUkrainian Sergiy Stakhovsky 6-3 6-4.
