Cricket: New Signing by Gloucestershire

The signing of Josh Shaw by Gloucestershire from Yorkshire has been finalized on a season-long loan.Shaw , who is 20 years of age is a right arm seamer and passed through the system of Headingley Academy, made his senior debut last summer by playing two matches in the NatWest T20 Blast Competition.

It is expected that Shaw will be playing in all the three formats for Gloucestershire and he is looking forward to having a place in Richard Dawson’s senior team as the head coach.

Shaw, who represented England under 19s in 2014 said, “ This is going to a great opportunity for me to develop my career into being a professional cricketer.”

“It is my hope that I may once again work with Richard Dawson who trained me at Yorkshire a few years ago before he was moved to Gloucestershire.” He added.

MartynMoxon, the Director of cricket at Yorkshire said, “ Shaw needs to play against quality opposition in the three formats. Gloucestershire is an advanced club and Richard Dawson is converting them into being a strong unit.”

“ They have proved their proficiency by winning the Royal London One Day cup final in the previous season. It is only fair that Shaw play his cricket at such a level.”

Dawson, the head coach of Gloucestershire added by saying, “ It is an honor to have Josh from Yorkshire for a season-long loan. He is a bowler with great potential and this will make our squad competitive at the same time giving him an opportunity to develop his game in the different formats.”

Will Brown, who is the chief executive of Gloucestershire said , “Having Josh on our team for the 2016 seasons represents another great signing for us and we are glad to have him in the club.”
