Double Header is Dominated by Women’s Tennis Once Again

When it comes to tennis the no. 18 Virginia women’s team never fails to surprise tennis fans. Just this past weekend, when they played against Louisville and Norfolk state, they registered two impressive wins. They downed the Cardinals by a whooping score of 6-1 and another remarkable 7-0 against the Spartans.

The only game that went against Virginia’s luck was when Victoria Olivarez, a junior, was defeated 1-6 against AbbiePahz of Cardinal. Virginia’s match against Norfolk State was another to carry weight on. It devastated Virginia.

Another team of women that played notably was the Cavaliers, being their first outdoor match of this season. They quickly captured the doubles point and couldn’t resist the winning the single matches. Cavaliers’ most bejeweled star players, Julia Elbaba and Danielle Collins, both seniors, won 6-1, 6-1 and 6-0, 6-1 respectively in their games against Louisville.

Cavalier on the other hand had the best match of the day winning a 7-0 against Virginia. They also challenged Norfolk State massively in 84 games when they only dropped a mere 9. Winning these two games will definitely motivate the Cavaliers in their upcoming game against on Friday against no. 6 North Carolina. After they started the season on a low note, they will be expected to win this upcoming game to show that they are in the right direction to secure a top place on the tennis board.

Another huge win comes to UCLA women’s tennis team as Bruins win a 4-1 score against Bears. Tennis has never been more interesting before like this season.

On yet another single game Miller continued to impress in sets of 6-3, 6-4 against KiahGenerette. According to Sampras Webster, Miller has continued to build her confidence as she is sure of her shots. Her choices are limited now that Mia Magill has been benched due to an injury.
