There was a lapse in the connection of the network on tablets provided by Microsoft during an NFL playoff match featuring New England Patriots. This was a huge disappointment for the players as well as the coaches who were unable to review any of the play.
Apparently, Microsoft entered into a deal with the NFL back in 2013. The deal which is believed to be worth over $400 million claimed that Microsoft will be the official provider of its Tablets which many referred to as ‘iPads’ which enabled the commentators and coaches to review plays.
Since this deal, things have not been 100% sure as another downfall was evidence last Sunday as the TV viewers for the championship match that involved New England Patriots and Denver Broncos were disappointed when they were notified of a possible failure to the tablets on the Patriot’s sidelines.
Evans Washburn who is a CBs side reporter claimed that the Patriot’s staff team was having some problem with the tablets which made it impossible for their coaches to see their defensive players. The NFL team immediately came in to solve the problem with some tablets able to continue their purpose while others could not bring up any image from the pitch.
The problem persisted through the first half of the game but the tablets would resume to full functioning in the second half. Through its spokesman, Microsoft claimed that the problem was associated with network connectivity rather than tablet malfunctioning.
The company released a statement on Sunday which said that the problem was related to a network connectivity problem rather than a malfunctioning problem. He also added that the problem will never be experienced again as they have talked to their network partners to look deep into the matter.
The following day, NFL released a statement which assured its clients that Microsoft was not responsible for the problem but it was from a network connectivity failure. Brain McCarthy a spokesperson of NFL claimed that towards the 1st half, the Patriot’s coaches were left on a stand still as pictures from the field went missing. This was not a malfunctioning of the Microsoft tablets but network failure. He assured that this season had no tablet malfunction but network connectivity.
