Henderson Wins Portland Classic for the second time in a row

Canadian professional golfer Brooke Mackenzie Henderson became the first to win the Portland classic second time in a row after Annika Sorenstam’s victory both in 2002 and 2003. In 2013 the tournament became a 72 hole event and the teenage golfer has been the first back to back winner since then. The defending champion had a swift four-stroke conquest. It wasn’t a walkover as golfer pulled through some edgy moments on the back nine.

Henderson joins Ha Na Jang as the second back to back winner this year in the tour. Ha Na Jang of South Korea won the Coates Championship early this year on 6th February.

The Sunday victory marks Henderson’s third career win. Speaking to Jerry Foltz during an interview she teases that the Northwest has been good to her. Well, that is true given that all her wins are from Northwest. Besides her two Portland victories, she also won the KPGM women’s PGA Championship at Sahalee Country Club in Sammamish, Washington in June 2016.

With three majors left this year, including the Olympics, Henderson believes that her win in the past tournaments only give her confidence to do better in the upcoming tournaments. The second-ranked eighteen year old golfer shot a 14-under 274 after a final round 71 at Columbia Edgewater Country Club in Portland, Oregon. In comparison to last year, where she had a nine stroke lead, her performance this year was noted to be varying. She had an eight-stroke win with a 21 under 267 at the 2015 Cambia Portland Classic.

Henderson reckons that she might not have played her best but it all worked out to second victory.

How will Scott’s nightmare end?

How will Scott’s nightmare end?

TPC Sawgrass has been burnt by the world’s leading Jason Day. However, Adam Scott and the other Australians have received heavy blows from the scandalous tough course. Jason Day’s bogey won over 63 points which totaled the course record. Australian fans were able to delight in the Player’s Championship during the first round. There was however a rough finish in the games which left the other six countrymen dissatisfied. Scott who is a former champion did not make a stroke of major length in his start of 17 holes where they sat three of them on the 18th T-shirt without a bogeyman. He was able to curve a double- iron tee shot into the water on the final and he hit his third shot very well straight past the green.

He was then able to cut back into the water via an impossible position. After that he three-putted for a multiple bogey eight and a 73 times round. Scott announced that he was still in shock as he did not expect the game to be disappointing for him as it had been. He admitted to pulling very terrible shots in the game. Scott however had taken part in the Honda Classic earlier in the year where he made a multiple bogey and managed to win the tournament. John Senden was not doing so well on his 9thhole which was also last hole, this was happening while Scott was messing up in his 18th hole. The bushes short left of the green and the Queenslander had a little bit of misunderstanding when the Queenslander made a bogey on the 8th hole.

This resulted in the bushes winning the tournament thus leaving the Queenslander with a triple bogey eight and a 75 round. Aaron Baddeley who is aggressive on regaining a tour card for this season was position six after 15 holes right before he dropped three strokes at the finals for a 69. Baddeley was able to double the seventh and also bogeyed the eighth at the end. Matt Jones was able to put down eight shots in the remaining 11 holes with two holes on four and three others on eight for a 78.

What worsened the situation was Steven Bowditch who lost seven shots in the last four remaining holes starting from double bogey, bogey, double bogey from 15-18 straight to plummet and finally to an 80. Marc Leishman was able to shoot 70 as he counterbalanced five birdies and an eagle with triple bogeys and a double bogey.

The Canadian Football League will start late June and will offer some exciting action each week.

For the CFL, you need to read a lot from their local newspaper websites so as to get extra information you hardly get from ESPN and other sports channels.

Rory Mcllroy missed on the Irish Open again but has the rain and wind to blame

Rory Mcllroy missed on the Irish Open again but has the rain and wind to blame

Harrington who is a three time major champion on Wednesday predicted that Sunday would see an Irish player lift the trophy and the most likely contender would be Mcllroy.

Mcllroy only added 71 to his 80 opening at the Windswept Royal County down. Harrington was left a shot off the lead shared by English pair Chris Wood and Tyrrell Hattton, Richie Ramsay from Scotland, Bernd Wiesberger from Austria and Soren Kjeldsen from Denmark.

Mcllroy followed up his victory with a 7-shot victory in the WGC-Cadillac Match play at the Wells Fargo Championship. He missed the cut in defending his BMW PGA Championship title at Wentworth. He pointed out that rain, wind and the links to golf did not work to his best.

This 26 year-old golfer thought he would make a cut when he made his first birdie of the week and the 7th with another on the 12th to thin a pitch on the 15th and 3-putt for a double bogey.

He said that he did his best but he could not make a proper run on the holes. He had made a promise of making a donation to his foundation for the prize money he had won but this will not materialize which leaves him with a lot to work on.

He acknowledges that the support is amazing but it will be sad because they will not see him playing. So, if you were to be on Mcllroy, you should wait for two weeks until the US open starts.

After the interview with the media, Mcllroy was in his car heading back home to Hollywood but his duties as the host to the tournament prevent him from advancing to Florida. He said that this was not an excuse for him.

Betting Tips

As you make your bet in golfing, it would be important for you to check on the weather conditions for where the event will be taking place, as well as, how familiar are players to the golf course. Common Golf Betting Mistakes to Avoid

Common Golf Betting Mistakes to Avoid

Casual bettors will only bet on four or five tournaments all year round. This might be the Ryder Cup or the majors. You need to know that you will hardly be sharp at betting if you are betting on a sport this rarely. If you bet on a regular basis, you will stay sharp and be in a position to conduct good analysis. If you are a rare bettor, there are mistakes that are likely to occur. In this post, I am going to furnish you on mistakes you should avoid when betting on Golf.

Betting on more than you can win

One common mistake would be betting on more than you can possibly win. Most of the bettors betting on golf tournaments will bet on more than one player. They will do this thinking that they will have several rooting interests in the event but when you do this; you might be losing more than you are winning or simply making an unacceptable rate of return.

Placing bets on the big players

Golf is known to be a game of stars and those are the stars that are usually on the headlines. The likes of Tiger Woods, Mickelson, Harrington and Els; these are the players who will always grace the headlines. For this reason, they will draw majority of the action in betting. The odds compilers are aware of this and they will set the odds accordingly which makes it hard for you to find value with this big names than with the less popular but talented golfers.

Not taking the course into consideration

When placing a bet, you need to consider the course they will be playing on. As a bettor, you will have a smaller edge when the greens are hard to hit and small or when the greens are soft and easy for the players to land the ball near the pin. If a player has had a lot of success on the course in his previous games, then he will not have the advantage in case the course is altered and different from the last time he played in it.

With this information in mind and being able to carrying out analysis on not only the popularity or the skills of the player, you will be in a position to make smarter bets on golf than you would in the past.
