The resignation of the taskforce head should act as a warning!

The resignation of the taskforce head should act as a warning!

The state opposition has said that Premier Mike Baird needs to learn from the move to resign of the man with the mandate to plan the greyhound racing that is to be put off in New South Wales. The Baird government announced that it would ban greyhound racing in July after which Dr. John Keniry was assigned to take charge of the greyhound transition committee. They were to seek advice from the greyhound racing industry. This would suggest an industry package that would help them wind down.

According to ABC Mr. Baird received a resignation letter from Dr. Keniry a couple of weeks ago. The letter stated that Dr. Keniry did believe the ban was necessary. However, he has agreed to maintain his role after further clarifications with the office. According to NSW Leader of Labor; Luke Foley Mr. Baird should consider reversing the ban in greyhound racing. He added that the letter sent to the premier needs to act as a wakeup call to Baird.

There has been a deep division within the Government due to the ban in greyhound racing. There has been a lot of National MPs and Ministers who have been fighting for the Premier to abandon the policy. Dr. Keniry’s report that was issued this month is the major hope for MPs that the Government will shift their position for the ban. However, the Premier Mike Baird has remained unshaken and still says the ban is still effective on July 2017.

Mr. Foley said that Mike Baird’s decision was a major mistake and that he should do away with his pride and cancel the ban. His party is currently divided and his coalition partner in uproar has stated that Mike Baird’s decision is a bad one. The acting Premier Tony Grant did not have a lot to comment on Dr. Keniry’s letter. He added that Dr. Keniry was still continuing with his work in matters concerning the greyhound industry on a transition package.

Journey to gold bumpy, but Team USA executes mission

Journey to gold bumpy, but Team USA executes mission

The USA is ranked among the best in the basketball world. Sunday’s Olympic gold medal game against Serbia proved this right. This was made possible by Kevin Durant who is a well-known basketball player.  He managed to put the game away single-handedly and also scored 30 points.  USA team came close to losing the game but managed to win by 10 points or less in all their eight games. The USA basketball team was in competition with Australia, Serbia and Spain. The US had a very poor organization in terms of its defenders but Mike Krzyzewski who is their head coach managed to change this before the quarterfinals. Players like Andre Iguodala or Paul George are required to complement the guys who can score for the team.

Only teams that travelled through the U.S. on their way to Rio were able to play the game. This was after they fell victim to an exhibition schedule that was too easy. There is nothing that can be gathered from the U.S. team in the last 5 weeks even if they have so much talent. Teams that were not used to playing with one another have been playing their first elimination game less than a month after they began training. Two players from the U.S were back from the last Olympic team including four from the team that won the World Cup of Basketball in 2014. In 2014 Serbia’s team lost to the U.S. but the nine players returned to play in the Olympics this season.

The USA basketball chairman Jerry Colangelo has concerns about his team since they do not have enough time to prepare for the games. His major concern is that there are ten new players in the team but very inadequate time for them to prepare themselves. In this year’s Olympic there were two important basketball players; one was Durant and the other Carmelo Anthony who won three Olympic gold medals. The final games between Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker had their national team members in uniforms. There were 46 NBA players available in this year’s Olympics. This time round the US team which consisted of 12 members gave it their best and did not give up. They managed to go home with gold.

Anthony was satisfied that the US team won despite the difficulties the team members experienced in the game.  He finished by saying that he was confident enough that his team would win even though the journey was not as easy as he thought.

Ware gave a statement on Monday where he said that his back was now feeling better and he was very focused in going back to the playing field. According to Per9News in Denver, Ware will begin practice earlier in the week. He had not been practicing with his team since February during the Super Bowl games. Broncos will not be expecting much from Ware anytime soon since DeMarcus Ware will have two weeks to make begin full practice. His other Broncos team members are glad that he will be making a return to the team. Ware is following players such as Packers in his linebacker Julius Peppers in the NFL sack list. However, there is a lot to look forward to in Denver.

Ware is not the only player that is expected to comeback after an injury. According to Kubiak, Aqib Talib is making an appearance after making a recovery from a gunshot wound and he is expected to play against the Rams on Saturday. Other injured players that will be coming back to the field according to Kubiak include Ty Sambrailo who had a hyperextended right elbow which happened on July 31st.
