Through the research done by many, it has been found that many cricket players face a lot of stress and discomfort due to their failure in the field. The players psychological problems emerge as a result of brainy fade, dismissal from the game or their batting average misses. Monty Panesar paved way to the redemption of the cricket players. By his confession of his feelings which ranged from paranoia to low esteem and seeking medical advice has helped many to know what to do if cumbered with the same burden.

Players spend a lot of time away from home and their families. This soon creates a vacuum in which a depressing state is perceived. The National Institutes of Health backed up the idea of the N.F.L agreeing to contribute tens of millions of dollars to concussion research as they saw this as an opportunity of reducing the permanent effects of head injuries on players. The N.F.L agreed to this decision back in 2012 and they agreed to have no control over how the funds were to be used.  However, the N.F.L officials were overly corrupt and tried all means of hiring their own doctor according to a congressional committee which released its research on Monday. The N.F.L denied these accusations in a statement carried out by Democratic members of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce.

The N.F.L has a long history of trying to mishandle concussion research which goes way back to the time when they first decided to follow up on crisis by using faulty information to come up with various studies. According to Dr. Richard Ellenbogen’s research in 2013 who proposed to carry out the research on how the funds were being used and later on petitioned to dishonor the findings of Dr. Stern who had initially being given credit on that work. Nothing much has changed over the last years, Dr. Elliot Pelliman who was the leader of the league’s concussion committee is still present though his work was dishonored since his study was suspicious and he never came out to support the permanent effects of head injuries on players.

Recent members of the committee include, Dr. Richard Ellenbogen who discredited the research findings of Dr. Robert Stern, who is a Boston neurologist. Others include Representative Frank Pallone Jr. of New Jersey who supervised the study and accused the N.F.L of trying to negatively influence research that they agreed to fund and then leave the rest to the research team. According to Mr. Pallone the disagreements between the N.F.L and the N.I.H arise due to the attempts made by the N.F.L to interfere with the research conducted on life-long effects of head injuries. ESPN were the original reporters of the results of the study, and also critiqued the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health for failing to adequately defend the relationship between N.I.H and the N.F.L.

The Major League Soccer franchise has been an obsession for the San Diego football fans. The dream may still be a long way off but another edition of skilled outdoor soccer may be coming soon and this set position for the MLS found in San Diego. The United Soccer League which is one of the famous skilled leagues in America is looking for ways to put up a development license in San Diego. This is reports according to various sources close to the USL. The upcoming team may begin playing as early as April, 2017. However, the NSL is not yet ready to make known the new team present in San Diego but is willing to make its presence felt in America’s greatest City.

John Griffin who is the President of Communications for the USL said that San Diego is a growing market with a millennial population and a very great interest in football. He added that the USL success foundation is made up of three central doctrines which include; strong local ownership, a striking market and the strategic plan for a football-specific stadium. With the three core values at hand the soccer teams and the league will be headed for long-term success. The first two core beliefs will be easy to fulfill since San Diego has always being among the top markets for World Cup Soccer positioning. It also has a very supportive team of fans. The Tijuana Xolos of Liga MX Club is also a strong supportive fan.

San Diego witnessed the National Premier Soccer League playing earlier in the year. The Albion Pros SC and the North County Battalion are both benefiting from the successful opening seasons on the fields and in the stands. The sticking point may be the third part of this equation. There have been discussions with the University of San Diego to allow the USL play home matches for the start of the start of the season at Torero Stadium. The November 2016 elections is a major focus by the USL league and is also a new Downtown stadium for the San Diego Chargers. However, the USL will only be able to occupy the stadium when Chargers move out of Mission Valley.

The USL may decide not to travel to San Diego due to the stadium obstacle, but if they do come, the MLS will be following soon enough. The horse racing event did not go too well on Saturday. It was to be the 141^st racing of the Preakness Stakes which was to be held on Saturday. Nyquist who is a recognized champion was to try his best to retain his record in time for the Triple Crown race at Belmont which will be held in three weeks’ time. At 6:45pm past the racing time the media sent out alerts that there were two dead horses in the first four races. This came shortly after the Ethical Treatment of Animals announced about the two deaths. Roy and Gretchen Jackson watched Barbaro one of their horses suffer a broken leg and later get euthanized after eight months in the Preakness Stakes and another one who also broke their leg in Pimlico’s turf course and then put down immediately.

Homeboykris who is nine-years old came first in the first race and later collapsed and died after suffering cardiovascular failure. Preakiness has been mentioned twice in 2016 by the National Public Radio website, in Kentucky Derby and the other on Saturday. Links were also available on Twitter and Facebook which talked about horse injury. People were for the idea of cancelling the Preakiness event, with the argument that it was not very safe. The morning after the race, Keith Desormeaux who is the trainer of Exaggerator was asked whether he was okay running his horse even though he was aware of the consequences.

It is risky trying to run the horses at this particular moment after what happened to Homeboykris who was a nine-year old horse and who ran 63 races, and won four of his last six races. His recent owner had wanted the horse to retire safely after his racing days were over. Pramedya who was a four-year old and owned by the people who bred her had only run five times and won twice. Unfortunately, the reports on horse fatalities are not really concerns about the animals’ welfare but a way of making news, especially if the animals suffer during major competition events. News reporters rarely report on safety measures taken on racing grounds.

Media is supposed to cover great animal events such as horse racing, rather than focus too much on tragedy. They should be able to dig deep and ask meaningful questions and also make sure the horses involved in horse racing are well taken care of.

The BMW PGA Championship will be taking place at Wentworth this week. This is a place that has been entirely associated with great and amazing things. The Ryder Cup which took place in 1953 was an amazing competition where the Americans squeaked through by a single point. This was followed by Ben Hogan who made his last challenging appearance in the United Kingdom and they partnered with Sam Snead to claim the Canada Cup for the United States. The World Match Play Championship was brought in 1964 and was designed by Mark McCormack who is the International Management Group founder and was invented for Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer and Gary Player. The three played one of the most unforgettable matches.

There have been great matches that have taken place at the PGA which has been held at Wentworth every year since 1984. With various players taking part in the matches such as Seve, who beat Colin Montgomerie in 1991, according to the Golf Channel specialist Frank Nobilo, the PGA remains the most important event on the European Tour. If the Open Championship was overlooked the PGA remained the biggest week of the year. The fact that the event occurs once every year at the same place adds to its importance. It is an event that almost everyone watches on television, and great events such as when Bob Charles won the World Match Play in New Zealand.

However, not much will be expected from the tournament expected this year, there is a shortage of crew members in the European Tour’s flagship event, such as officer material. Roy Mcllroy who is the new Irish Open Champion will not be expected on the PGA on Thursday morning. Sergio Garcia, HenrikStenson, and Justin Rose who stated his absence on a late notice will also be absent. Ian Poulter who is the Ryder Cup hero has been known to dislike the course, which also includes the three-time major winner, Padraig Harrington. Paul Casey has also chosen to stay at home. South African players such as Branden Grace, CharlSchwartzel, Louis Oosthuizen and Els who is the course re-designer will be absent.

The event holds so much importance and the absence of such great players is quite a shocking situation. Nobilo says in order to counter this problem there needs to be more cooperation between the PGA and European Tours.
