Ex-England and Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard will be accorded with the OBE award. The main sponsors of the award; the Duke of Cambridge claimed that they would award Lampard the honor after his tireless services in the world of football.
Lampard has a strong football base which has cemented his career as well being a role model not only to English upcoming football stars but also global talents. He started his football career back in 1995 in London side West Ham united. This was the same club where his late farther Frank Lampard Snr. Played his trade. Four years later, he won his senior England cup in 1999. He has since been capped by his team over 100 times and held the armband on several occasions.
From Westham, Lampard caught an eye by London rivals Chelsea who would signhim later on. It was at Chelsea that he played alongside longtime friends and national team mates John Terry and Ashley Cole.He won his first English Premier League trophy in 2004/05 season under the mighty Jose Mourinho. He went on to utilize his ability at Chelsea and even led the team at Munich when they scooped the European most prestigious award; the European Champions League in 2012.
Lampard remains a legend at Chelsea having topped the list with most goals in the club’s history (211). He switched to Manchester City in a one year spell in 2014/15 season. Later he went abroad to America where he plays for MLS side New York City.
Other lucky winners who will be honored at the Buckingham Palace investiture ceremony includes Chiwetel Ejiofor for his services in the drama category. He will be accorded with the CBE award having already acquired the OBE in the past. He co-stars in a new Ridley Scott blockbuster The Martian alongside Matt Damon.He also achieved an Oscars Nomination and went on to win the Bafta awards for his role in the movie; 12 Years A Slave.
The CBE honor also goes to Michael Bond for his writing role of stories which are very amusing to children. Also OBE for public and political service will be awarded to Duwayne Brooks.
