A Trend established as Jeff Teague moves in to his parents’ basement

Jeff Teague is said to be back in his hometown, Indianapolis, and living with his parents. This has shocked many but the basketball player appeared complacent with the idea of living in his parents’ basement during a press interview on Wednesday. He decided to stay with his folks following a trade to Indiana Pacers. Jeff said that will be living in his parents’ through the whole NBA season which is considerably a long time. This has been marked the ‘millennial Trend’.

This trend has been mainly due to the current economic status and folks trying to save up but given Jeff’s  $8.8 million deal this season, one would argue that he is making enough money to get his own place. At the same time, the house in Indianapolis is technically his as well, since he had purchased it before moving to Atlanta to play for Atlanta Hawks and gave it to his parents when he officially re-signed .He had also bought a house in Atlanta but sold it after the trade. He jokes that he is not claiming a bedroom in the house, but will be taking the basement and doesn’t really have to worry about curfews.

The new Indiana point guard does not appear bothered at all by this move. Not only is it a cost saving move but it also saves him the pressure of looking for new place.

Statistics indicate that most young  and single  people are moving back home to save on the cost of living. It is a trend that really isn’t so new. The current economic footing in the United States allows only those with very well paying jobs to live separately from their parents, until then, this trend remains.

Haruki Namaruki, Former NFL player in court over concussion claim

Haruki Namaruki, Former NFL player in court over concussion claim

A re-known former NFL player, Haruki Namakura sued the Llyod’s of London this week after they denied his concussion claim. The former player suffered what is said to be a career ending injury in 2013 during the Carolina’s Exhibition V Steelers. He had purchased a $1million insurance policy in 2012 right before the season with panthers. Since his concussion, the player is yet to collect on the policy hence the law suit against his insurer.

Given his status as a professional athlete, this suit could become the landmark case for athletes seeking reimbursement from insurance companies after injuries especially concussions and head traumas. The suit was filed on Monday in North Carolina.

The August 2013 concussion rendered Haruki Namaruka fully and permanently disabled. The NFL awarded him total and permanent disability benefits consequent to his retirement following post-concussion symptoms. He will therefore be receiving $10,000 monthly in benefits. He had suffered post-concussion symptoms but according to the Lloyd’s medical expert ruling in 2015, he was fir to play. This was contrary to a diagnosis by a specialist at the University of Pittsburg  Medical Center.

The former NFL player’s attempts to recover on the policy was unfruitful as the insurance company has been stalling. It is alleged that the Lloyd’s of London pulled a stunt most insurance companies pull by burying the former player in endless bureaucracies and loads of paperwork. Their spokeswoman also declined to comment on the suit stating that it is against their policy to comment on pending law suits.

Haruki Namaruka played defensive back for the panthers when he took the hit on his head that led to a concussion. His claim will be the first to be rejected by an insurance company even after an NFL medical expert has declared his concussion a ‘career ending injury’. The policy taken out in 2012 was intended to be a hedge against a career ending injury. He is seeking $3million in the suit.

Seventh Heaven is the reason O’Brien got his 5th Irish Oak

Seventh Heaven is the reason O’Brien got his 5th Irish Oak

Aiden O’ Brien received a fifth victory in the Curragh Classic as a stablemate and odds-on favorite after Seventh Heaven bounced back from a substandard effort in the Investec Oaks. Song also completed the race well beaten. The winner finished in a 14-1 victory and scored decisively from British raiders Architecture and Harlequeen in second and third. This is after he extended clear under Seamie Heffernan.  In a statement O’ Brien said that Seamie had a second pick and wanted to ride Seventh Heaven after Ryan picked Even Song. He was right when he thought that the Curragh would suit Song better than Epsom.

They are even considering sending her to the Yorkshire Oaks since she has been working in a very good manner. She even enjoyed the ground, O’ Brien stated that they had always considered her a high class filly.  Following her first win at the highest level, Paddy Power made Seventh Heaven a 5-1 joint favorite for the Yorkshire Oaks. O’ Brien has been training four runners with Pretty Perfect being among them. Perfect made sure that a descent pace was maintained in the race. Aboard the Investec Oaks Frank Dettori is the one who took the glory. Architecture had two furlongs to go. Heffernan had the race covered aboard Seventh Heaven. He managed to quicken up well in the last furlong and managed to score a convincing win.

Even Song got held up in the late run but did not quicken in the home straight. Moore managed to ease himself off the Ribblesdale winner. O’ Brien blamed himself for training the filly too hard for the Ribblesdale. He was however positive she would manage to come out from the set back. The trainer of the runner-up Architecture, Hugo Palmer commented saying that even though they did not win, their filly had managed to run another great race. The filly had only been beaten narrowly in the Lingfield Oaks Trial. He added that Architecture deserved to win in a Group 1 after she raced in Epsom. They are considering sending for the German Oaks even though she is in the Yorkshire Oaks.

There was little response as the daughter of Teofilo was pushed along by Andrea Atzeni. This made the Italian Rider allow her to make her way home at the back of the field.

Will NFL narrow the field goals upright?

Will NFL narrow the field goals upright?

According to the Toronto Sun interview with NFL Vice president of officiating Dean Blandino, there will be a study conducted by the NFL to determine whether the uprights should be narrowed. The study is expected to kick off this season as the NFL kickers have not been able to make less than 80% of their field goal attempt in over a decade. They have also not made less than 82.4% since 2009. Blandino said that the study would affect both the extra point and field goal. He added that success rates had escalated over the years starting from long snapper to holder all the way to kicker. Studies will be conducted this year.

In order to determine how far inside the uprights all successful field goals and extra points are kicked the NFL will conduct a study that will involve placing microchips inside the kicking balls. However, in the meantime the balls will be used before the season and in case the study is successful the practice will go on until the regular season. According to Blandino’s statement when speaking to the sun, in case the study goes on as planned the uprights will be narrowed in the 2017 season. He added that a committee will hold a discussion regarding the matter and then come up with a conclusion for 2017. He is waiting to see how this year goes on.

During the first year of the NFL’s 32-yard extra point, kickers league wide managed to make 94.1% of their attempts. This is to mean that if NFL does not narrow the uprights the conversion rate of the field goal attempts and the extra points will be affected. This reduces the value of the extra point when compared to a two-point conversion. If the extra points were to drop, the two-point conversion would be appreciated. However some NFL coaches would ignore it out of fear.

Dog Owners are not happy with Foley’s Greyhound Racing support

Dog Owners are not happy with Foley’s Greyhound Racing support

A rally in Sydney’s inner west that was to be held on Sunday is what Laurina and Michael Chilcot had purposefully hoped would help celebrate the bad decision by Premier Mike Baird on the basis of banning greyhound racing. However, the two joined 150 people in expressing their anger at Luke Foley who is the Labor leader. The Labor leader is trying to oppose the banning of greyhound is NSW. Michael Chilcott said that the leader was supporting the wrong side. Atlas is the current dog that the couple has adopted among 15 others. Laurinna Chilcott said that saving dogs will bring about an impact in banning of greyhound racing.

She added that the banning of greyhound racing brought about tremendous joy to her and her husband. MP Mehreen Faruqi accused Mr. Foley of connecting the issue between the working class and other sections of the community in a rally held in a park in Newton, state Greens. She accused Labor of using the industry’s workers as political pawns. There are 24 race tracks that have been marked for closure before the government decided to ban greyhound racing earlier in the month. The industry is currently facing great financial issues according to Faruqi. She stated that the greyhound racing sport was on the verge of collapse and she and Mike Baird had completely agreed on that.

Mr. Foley said that banning greyhound racing will affect a lot of people in the long run. There will be a discussion on the banning of greyhound racing in NSW from July next year and it will be held on August 2. The banning of the sport is also been supported by the ACT government. Mr. Foley was accused by Naremburn a resident from Kylie Field and a greyhound owner of opposing the banning of greyhound racing to get access to marginal votes. She said that he was being unfair since the dogs actually needed their support. She angrily commented saying that the industry was not capable of reforming and they had wasted most of their time supporting Labor’s party.

Premier was congratulated for supporting the ban by one of the greyhound owners, Mel O’ Sullivan. He added that those supporting the ban recognized the efforts put forth to bring the house in order.
