Fear of talent withdrawal in South Africa cricket

Fear of talent withdrawal in South Africa cricket

South Africa cricket faces a huge blow as Rob Walter leaves for New Zealand, making him the third official to do so in a month. He signed a couching deal with Otago that is meant to run for two  years. Otago Volts appointed him the new head coach for the next two domestic cricket seasons, replacing Nathan King. Rob Walters led the Titans to victory since he was signed in 2013. The titans won three trophies in four seasons. Having been named the most successful coach, Rob Walters had been set to take the side A to Australia but he did not believe it would materialize. This would have seen him assigned a national job.

It is a sad state for South Africa cricket as more officials leave for abroad to explore better deals. The entire franchise circuit could be paralyzed by the exit of most of these officials especially coaches and employee in the management and administration. It would be difficult to function with the very backbone of the entire structure.

South Africa cricket players are also making their moves under water as they explore better options abroad. Former players and senior officials have sourced that these players, among them been a few contracted internationals, are seriously considering and weighing their options abroad. This could be a major bluster to the domestic game.

A former cricket player attributes 80% of the reason for players to exit the scene to money. He said that South Africa lacks the amounts to pay it’s players sums they would so comfortably be paid abroad. Most players cannot bear the stress and pressure thus opt out for abroad.

The decision to take on dynamic transformation in South Africa has built up pressure among players. Most worry as to whether they will continue to be selected and their security in the franchise. Morne Morkel, after been left out of the 2016 T20 squad considered retiring but was convinced to stay. It however hasn’t been the same since as he plays less and less games. Out of the six games at the Caribbean triangular series, he only played two games. Another player, Dale Steyn, whom he had helped sign at the county faced the same challenge. He missed the West Indies tour as he was said to be rested but then the South Africa’s select committee had him play at the NatWest t20 Blast after giving him an NOC. The two players are considering their exit subject to the treatment they are facing. Their interest more particularly is in the Australia Big Bash League scheduled at the end of the year.

More players feel the same and continue to fish for opportunities abroad. The structure of the south Africa cricket is failing at managing not only their top players but also their support team and employees. It may not accommodate everyone in their capacity hence building up pressure. This may be consequential in the next major games both domestic and  international.

Cricket needs to make some bold strokes and change their test structure

Cricket needs to make some bold strokes and change their test structure

Nepal will have their first home test after campaigning for it for a number of years. This is happening down at Kathmandu’s new stadium where England captain Joe Root is getting ready to make history. There are a number of fans in the stadium and Root’s team comprise of a number of players such as high-ranked players comprising of the captain and Ben Stokes, and others such as Sam Curran and Jamie Overton who are going to greater heights. Nepal has a very good reputation in associate cricket and has received rewards for it. The ICC has come forth to fulfil their promise even though many had doubts. New nations were one of the solutions to reviving Test cricket by the chief executive, David Richardson seven years ago.

This pledge by David Richardson has proved to work and this is visible through a number of filled houses such as Kathmandu, Kabul and Dublin. An ICC annual general meeting is due to take place in Edinburg and there will be discussions on a new format for Test cricket that Richardson has already discussed. They will comprise of promotion and relaxation. Former Black Caps captain came forward to urge cricket players to give their best in order to improve. He was backed up by Sri Lanka great Kumar Sangakkara who said that players who participate in Test cricket will only prevail when they play against the best nations.

Very few fans are available for Test cricket matches around the globe. There are increasing day and night, pink-ball Tests after the match that was held last year between Australia and New Zealand which took place in Adelaide. Over 125,000 fans attended the game which lasted up to three days. Oldest format cricket is being campaigned for and two divisions with high rewards for the top management should be responsible for campaigning for the old formats. They should aim to inspire other nations who have passion for the game. Government interference has made the Cricket Association of Nepal to become suspended.

Cricket will be played in 7-10 years’ time if time if things are done differently this is according to the chief executive BhawanaGhimire as he addressed Standard Sport. ICC has a number of countries who are quite interested in cricket considering the number of people who are interested in cricket in Nepal. 10,000 people attended the two cricket games hosted in Nepal against Namibia in the World Cricket League. In order for cricket to thrive, people should not look in to the disadvantages but the advantages associated with it.

A Light is shown on Crickets Loneliness curse by Monty Panesar Confession

A Light is shown on Crickets Loneliness curse by Monty Panesar Confession

Through the research done by many, it has been found that many cricket players face a lot of stress and discomfort due to their failure in the field. The players psychological problems emerge as a result of brainy fade, dismissal from the game or their batting average misses. Monty Panesar paved way to the redemption of the cricket players. By his confession of his feelings which ranged from paranoia to low esteem and seeking medical advice has helped many to know what to do if cumbered with the same burden.

Players spend a lot of time away from home and their families. This soon creates a vacuum in which a depressing state is perceived. A seed of subconscious is reached when a player fails or a batsman fails to prove that he can hit well in the game. At this moment a seed of subconscious is planted in his mind. As the player repetitively curses and get depressed, that’s when he starts breaking down from his game to his head. Bell inspired a lot of people during an interview he clearly expressed his turmoil and depression in 2012. Cricket hardly creates a room for expressing insecurities or psychological problems. It is for this reason that Monty Panesar was appointed mental health ambassador for the Professional Crickets Association. Panesar was able to move out of the depressing state only because he decided to say it out loud.

Cricket is one sport that’s said to really cause health crisis to its players. One of cricket’s players Graeme Fowler was crushed by his mental illness one time that he did not leave his home for six weeks. He even says that he almost found it difficult to make a cup of coffee. Jim Burke one of Australian Cricket layers killed himself with a gun in 1979 for going 44 innings without a duck. Cricket is a very controversial game, if the player’s frustrations aren’t monitored by medics it is clear that they can break down. Panesar is a very good reminder that anyone has a choice to make any decision without being discriminated. Monty Panesar helped many players even from other games to speak about their problems openly.

Pitch has Been Vandalized by Unknown Person(s), $5000 Reward Offered!

Pitch has Been Vandalized by Unknown Person(s), $5000 Reward Offered!

Skinner Reserve’s pitch in sunshine was vandalised just before the match between Kingsville Baptist Cricket Club and Sunshine Heights. Kingsville would have qualified for the finals had they won this match. Although we might all be suspecting Sunshine Heights to have been the accused, they are so much in the clear since they are next to last in the ranking and hence they had nothing to gain from for the vandalism act.

Since there was no match the game was declared a draw and Kingsville lost their chance to be among the top four who are proceeding to the finals. They only needed 140 runs with nine wickets to in the match that did not happen to get to the finals.

Authorities have issued a reward of $5,000 for any information on the perpetrators who caused the ruthless act.

The pitch was destroyed beyond recognition, some say it reminded them of a ploughed field. The covers were drawn back, some section of the field was also dug up and oily substance spread across the surface of the whole pitch.

If another club is found to have any involvement in the vandalism or any knowledge of this act prior to its occurrence, they will face starkconsequences, was what McNamara said in a statement.

He also apologised to Kingsville Baptists CC for the dreadful act. He went ahead and said that that was not the case they were familiarised to at the great game of cricket and that anyone who came forward would be helping the cricket community to catch the people accountable for the act.

Peter Hardeman, Kingsville club treasurer said that it was clearly an act of sabotage. He told Tripple M that the person who did this act knew what they were doing because they pulled the covers off. This was an act by someone who knew the covers were there.
