Cricket: Michael Clarke Returns to the Game He Has Loved since He Was 10 years!

Cricket: Michael Clarke Returns to the Game He Has Loved since He Was 10 years!

Nervous or not? I will let you be the judge of that. Michael Clarke, 34, returns to Pratten Park, where he first played cricket at the age of thirteen, watched by his parents; Deborah and Les.

Unlike any other player today, he brought his own bat, ball and soundtrack to his comeback game at inner-western Sydney.

As the saying goes, ‘when you fall own, get back up’, so did Clarke by defying all odds against him. This is the same game he left last August when he was defeated, thereby announcing his retirement.

And who better to support him other than his wife Kyly who gave him the good-luck kiss before the game together with their three months old baby Kelsey who attended too.

Clarke also came with his PR and personal sponsors. “I’m probably different” is what he said to Fox Sports.

He stood out from his teammates when he put on a black shirt with white stripes. His teammates, they have white with black stripes shirts.

The Australian test team are playing in Christchurch, a mere 2140 kilometres from Ashfield.

Clark is batting against Randwick and Petersham at number 3.

While on his third ball, it would have turned out disastrous but as we know Clarke, he saved the game by providing a small edge falling just short off the slips.

Clark had said he would not rule out a return to first-class cricket when interviewed by The Sunday Telegraph.

He fled being run out when he climbed back to his fold after running a single.

He finally gave in just after 2 pm. He had a LBW for 48 runs.

Clarke signed every kid’s shirt and scrap of paper during his breaks reminding them to always say ‘please’.

Safe to say the crowd was larger than usual. He said, “No matter who I play for, I always get nervous before I bat”.

South African youngster kills England off

South African youngster kills England off

Kagiso Rabada was the man of the match at SuperSport Park after he produced one of his best shows in South African cricket jersey smashing England deep in a black hole. The 20 year old was outstanding and starred throughout the game as South African condemned England in their seven wickets for 49 runs in 13.4 overs. This happened despite England resuming on 52 for three.

However, this loss didn’t forbid the Englishmen in clinching the Basil D’ Oliveira trophy since they had won in 241 run at Kingsmead which was followed by 8-wicket win at the Bidvest Wanderers Stadium.

In spite of thrashing England in the match, South Africa still is ranked 3rd in the ICC test match. Captain AB de Villiers claimed that he was proud of his team who fired it up for the match and he claimed that this would be the start of upcoming success in the near future.

The full potential of Rabada was evident as he recorded figures of 13-144 which made history to be the best to have ever recorded in a total of 21 tests held at SuperSport Park. Among them was his 6-32 in 10.3 overs accrued in the second innings.

England captain Alastair Cook was disappointed by the way his team played in the five days but also found time to congratulate the South Africans for their brave approach of the match. At the same time, Ben Stokes was awarded with the man of the series award after he accrued 411 runs and 12 wickets which brought an average of 29.11.

South Africa has been hit by careless mistakes emanating from lack of concentration in batting that has led to their three test losses to India. This would later be followed by their initial loss to England at the Kingsmead.

The two teams had the following players for the match:

ENGLAND: AN Cook (capt), AD Hales, BA Stokes, CR Woakes, SCJ Broad, JM Anderson, NRD Compton, JE Root, JM Bairstow (wk), MM Ali and JWA Taylor.

Irfan Ahmed charged by ICC

Irfan Ahmed charged by ICC

Irfan Ahmed a Hong Kong cricketer has been faced by corruption charges after it was alleged by the International Cricket Council that he violated the Article 2.4.2 of the ICC Anti-Corruption Code. Ahmed faces the same offence that was once conducted by New Zealand batsman Lou Vincent for fixing matches in England.

He will face a tribunal on charges of failure to report match fixing scandal after he was approached by a match fixer. If he is found guilty, he will be banned to around two to five years. This would be a big blow for the Indian Cricketer who was scheduled to lead his team in the upcoming Twenty20 Championship in March. It will be also a big blow for the Hong Kong cricket. Currently Ahmed is ranked 11th in the World T20 rankings.

The ICC Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) claimed that it would continue investigating various bookies that have a tendency of targeting associate nation players for match fixing and other irregularities.

Another Hong Kong based player Kevin Egan of Australia claimed that Ahmed may not be faced by serious charges after it was noted that the only mistake he did was failing to report the match fixing irregularity that was conducted by a former Pakistan cricketer.

The named Pakistan cricketer is believed to be Nasem Gulzar. He is believed to be Ahmed mentor since the latter moved to Hong Kong. Gulzar has been faced by several match-fixing scandals and was once mentioned during a try of Chris Cairns who formerly represented New Zealand in international levels.

Generally, ICC has no mandate to make a comment in regards to the ACU matters. However, the head of investigative branch of ICC Ronnie Flanagan claimed that players should be on the lookout for these match fixers who are now targeting players earning low income and bribe them with substantial amounts to lose a specific game. He continued to claim that the cricket has been on the target and this may be a spread risk towards the success of domestic cricket games as well as low lever international matches.
