New live data for Genius Sports after FIBA renews their deal

The long- awaited sports data and technology partnership between International Basketball Federation ( FIBA) and the Genius Sports Group has been extended for another two years as stated by FIBA. The extension period of the partnership will serve to allow Genius Sports to gain more additional elite rights to issue FIBA live data to gambling operators, and also in opening its information system to more than 2000 FIBA certified games. FIBA governance announced the renewal of the partnership in Lausanne Switzerland. It also named Genius Sports the Official FIBA Data and Statistics League and Federation Partner.

With the extension of the partnership the national basketball federations and leagues will continue to have an advantage. The FIBA LiveStats tool and related services will bring significant value in sport growth and fan supervision.  The French Basketball Federation (FFBB) and Argentina’s Association of Basketball Clubs is being aided by the Genius Sports in the monetization of their LiveStats data through the implementation of various data rights contracts. The FIBA Secretary General and International Olympics Committee (IOC) Member Patrick Baumann announced that they were happy to be in association with the newly- named Genius Sports.

He also added that he was also glad to be in collaboration with them in regards to their statistical and competition management tools for various federations and leagues worldwide. In addition to all that he said that the agreement was a sign that Genius Sports was committed to provide the FIBA family with the best technology solutions available in the market. The Genius Sports Chief Commercial, Nick Maywald also pointed out that the FIBA and IBF were totally committed to the growth of basketball all over the globe. He also said that they were looking forward to have more partnerships with other federal and leagues all over the world. This will make basketball one of the most popular sports in the community, Nick Maywald added.

Victor Ojeda honored by Spanish Basketball Coaches

The current FIBA Americas Basketball Academy Director Victor Ojeda has received an honor from the Spanish Basketball Coaches Association. The event took place during the FIBA Americas Ordinary Assembly that took place on the 16th and 17th day of October.

The award was awarded to Ojeda for his outstanding contribution in basketball category in the area. He is a well-known club and nation head coach. He took charge of the Puerto Rico National team in 1978 and went on to clinch most wins in the national basketball history. He is currently a member in the World Association of Basketball Coaches (WABC).

The President of Spanish Basketball Coaches AssociationJuan Maria Gavalda claimed that they have believed in the tireless efforts by Ojeda who has been instrumental in the growth of basketball not only in his native land of Puerto Rico or Americas continent at large but across the globe. And to honor his work, they have decided to award him with this prestigious honor. Through Ojeda, many have achieved substantial education on the sport and have went on to become professional basketball players.

Gavalda continued to claim that Ojeda has been on the front line in equipping coaches with advance knowledge in the sport in the Americas and this clearly portrayed the real passion in the sport. His work would have never gone unnoticed by many in the field.

Ojeda was appointed the FIBA Americas Basketball Academy Director back in 2003 and has been moving from one nation to another as he held several clinics for the better play of the sport.

Receiving the award, Ojeda claimed that he was happy to achieve such a prestigious honor and he added that this represented a clear indication that his department’s work has been propelling forward much as they had wished. He added that during his stint as a coach, he took equipping knowledge about the sport very seriously to a variety of professional players and coaches in all federal nations across the continent. This will continue in the near future.

Among the dignitaries at the Assembly were; FIBA Regional Director in the Americas, Mr. Alberto Garcia, FIBA Americas President, Mr. Usie Richards,FIBA Americas Secretary General Emeritus,Mr. Jenaro Marchand and FIBA President, Mr. Horacio Muratore.
