China Spends Over $300 Million on Foreign Players.

China Spends Over $300 Million on Foreign Players.

The football scene has been known to boast of spending the most on the purchase of new football players. Currently the whole world in general is focused on electing the next FIFA president while China is focused on buying the most expensive players for this season. So far it has spent over $300 million on foreign players.

The only players that China could not lay their hands on are the ones in the most expensive teams and those who are in newly signed contracts. Apparently it is rumored that they are spending on players to please the president Xi Jinping.

In the most recent January- February transfer window of 2016, China’s league clubs have spent $366 million. The fee paid for these transfers by China is exceeding that of the English premier league teams by more than $100 million and has quadrupled China’s last year transfer budget.

This spending is also more than the spending of other leagues combined like Italy, Germany, France and Spain. China has really decided to shock us all by going on this new expensive shopping spree. These were the analysis according to Transmarkt.

This is now known as the ‘gold rush’ where most of the world’s top players are rushing to. The most celebrated top players, Ramires-formerly of Chelsea, Jackson Martinez- formerly of Atletico Madrid and Alex Teixeira- formerly of Brazil were the players that cost China the most for them to win their bids.

These players are only rushing to play for China because they will have double the money they were earning yet it is damaging for their career because they will not have stiff competition on the pitch as they did before. Others like Teixeira are being paid about $10 million annually by China yet they never even made it to big teams and games like the English premier league.

European club owners have reason to be concerned because China has the ability to move a whole European league to China. Arsene Wenger, Arsenal’s manager said that if China’s intentions were political in their move to buy these players then there was reason to be concerned.

The 37 year old is well known for his coaching experience having taken up various roles with Urban Meyer and Harbaugh. Gary Blackney who took coached Durkin for four years during their time at Bowling Green and later became the defensive coordinator at Maryland when the team was mentored by Ralph Friedgen claimed that the acquisition of Durkin by Maryland was exceptional. He continued to describe him as a young guy with a wonderful pedigree and has been involved in different coaching jobs which have gained him a lot of experience. He added that Durkin will have a strategy that would bring all the departures back to the system.

Durkin has a good record when it comes to defensive coordination and this has seen Michigan being ranked fourth national wide in total defense and has also seen it scoop the 11th position in scoring defense. The team has gone on to keep three consecutive clean sheets in September including their 28-0 win over Maryland.

Before securing a job with the Wolverines, Durkin had spent five years in Florida in which he undertook the defensive coordinating role for two years. Expulsion of head coach Will Muschamp in January gave him an interim role as the head coach and went on to win the Birmingham Bowl. Before joining Florida, he was working under Harbaugh in Stanford and spent some time as the team’s defensive coordinator.
