Since it was founded over a century ago, Forest Green Rovers has been playing most of its matches in the lower English divisions. However, it is on verge of attaining promotions come this season. These efforts may be attributed to their chairman Dale Vince the owner to green energy company Ecotricity who took over the team in 2010 when it faced many problems among them financial constrains.

Vince said that despite him being involved with issues pertaining energy, transport as well as food, he decided to pop in and rescue the team and make their soccer more fertile. Vince is focused to make Forest green Rovers one of the prominent clubs in Britain and probably globally.

With a week to spare before the kick off of the 2015/2016 campaign workers was busy modifying Rover’s pitch with the association of the Soil Association who confirmed the organic credentials. Grounds man Matt Rainey claimed that they were very unique as they make use of their biological, organic to keep their turf natural. They use recycled water and rainy water to maintain the green and lush turf.

They became the very first team in UK to incorporate robotic mowers that work under no human supervision. It is the same technology that is used by Germany powerhouse Bayern Munich. The team boost self generated power from 180 roof-mounted solar panels that runs the mow-rob.

In the last four years, the club has banned red meat for both players and fans and has rather incorporated organic food and vegetables. They have also initiated a shop that sells organic beer. The club now has dedicated its efforts on having vegan foods and according to a survey, the food is deemed to be good for all.

According to Chef Nicholas Allan who runs a café next to the stadium claimed that the new change in diet would affect stomachs of several players but with time they would get used to it. The main thing would be keeping the food always delicious and many will come to love it.

This program was accepted by club members with midfielder Rob Sinclair claiming that this was the best initiative ever and they would all give it support. This was echoed by staff member Sue as well as he colleague Karen. Fans too were not left behind as they claimed that no matter how hard it may seem for some, they would give it a try and with no time, all would be uniform.
