Deal To Play Even More Games signed by the NFL and the UK

Deal To Play Even More Games signed by the NFL and the UK

Many will wish to see the NFL games being played abroad and especially London fans. Well, their dream may come true as in a short distance future, each NFL team will have a chance to participate in abroad match in a season.

The NFL claimed that it has been accorded the privilege of staging three NFL games in three years as from next year at the London’s Twickenham Stadium. This is the main English rugby union for men stadium. This marks an initial beginning with more matches expected to be staged in the stadium in coming years.

This comes barely two week after NFL claimed that it had acquired a deal that would see two matches being played in Wembley Stadium up to 2020. This is however expected to accrue another five years in the deal.

This means that about 31% of the NFL will be played abroad with a game played at the Twickenham in 2018. Jacksonville Jaguars who are owned by Shahid Khan who also owns Championship side Fulham will see their games being played in London up to 2020.

The aspect of expanding the NFL game is not done yet as next year the league will stage a game in Mexico City. Reports from a Spanish sports newspaper AS claim that 2017 and 2018 will see a NFL game being played in the City each season. Roger Goodell also claimed that there is a possibility that a game will be staged in Germany which was considered the first priority market for the league. Elsewhere, Brazil is believed to host the Pro Bowl in 2017.

Among Basketball, Hockey, Baseball and Football which are considered the top four games in the Americans, its only football which has the least exposure in the international level and this explains why the NFL is so aggressive in staging what it has in store at the international level.

The saturated aspect of NFL has showcased that a foreigner can’t be a diehard fan once in the Americans but the league will have to go an extra mile in forcing itself in the international market to win the loyalty of foreign based fans and staging matches abroad is seen as the best way to oversee this.

Yahoo brings in Fantasy football betting to their products

Yahoo brings in Fantasy football betting to their products

Yahoo Inc. seeks to boost its brand by joining fantasy sports betting, one of thesuccessful industries. This came because of its stagnant advertising revenue.

This week, the Silicon Valley giant made announcement of launching a betting service that could introduce over ten million people to legalize online sports gambling called Yahoo Sports Daily Fantasy.

Yahoo Sports Daily Fantasy is available through a mobile app. It enables users to compete either in groups or individually by placing bets on the performance of a professional athlete.

According to Eilers Research in Anaheim, the service is estimated to make $1.4 billion by 2020, with the industry for wagers growing at the rate of 41% every year. As such, this year, the service will generate around $2.6 billion in entry fee.

As said by Fantasy Sports Trade Assn, 56.8 million will be the total number of people playing fantasy sports this year.

With sites like FanDuel and Draftkings on the lead, fantasy betting has thrived since the Government passed the unlawful Gambling Enforcement Act in 2006.

The Vice president of Yahoo, Ken Fuchs said, “The move will allow Calif to expand its existence on mobile devices and create a base of steady transactional revenues by taking 19% of each wager.”

Yahoo is planning to start expanding its presence with football and baseball then later move to hockey and basketball, hoping to go international one day.

On the contrary, the managing director for Eilers Research, Adam Krejcik is disappointed that Yahoo Daily Sports Fantasy‘s platform is almost similar to its competitors FanDuel and Draftkings. Instead, Yahoo should have invested at least $100 million this year to make casual users of fantasy sports have shareable experience on social media.

On Thursday,Krejcik wrote to clients, “As much as Yahoo has the necessary resources to spend, it is uncertain to us whether the management is willing to commit to such amount of cash.”

Fuchs declined and went ahead to explain how the company was going to invest this year.

NBA Withdraws Opposition to Canadian Sports Betting Reforms

NBA Withdraws Opposition to Canadian Sports Betting Reforms

Good news to wagers in Canada is that they can now bet on single sports. This comes after NBA claimed that it will support the idea despite it going against Bill C-290. This was reported by the Canadian Gaming Association (CGA) said this week. Since the legalization of betting in Canada, Criminal Code in the country has always checked on the single betting and only allowed multi betting where punters collectively sum up their bets through provincial lottery operators. The main reason behind this was that more often than not, addiction would follow single betting as well as match fixing.

Advocators to this bill claimed that provincial lottery corporation would cash in millions of money; cash that would belong to the unlicensed offshore markets who by now are the only operators that have been providing for Canada’s kinkier betting requirements.

Multi-billion-dollar Gray Market

It has been claimed that more than $10 billion has been the revenue generated annually by single event betting. Hockey league games have generated income to more than 220 betting firms with another 120 Canadian Football league also generating income. The Canadian League is posted by more than 130 betting sites.

It was back in 2012 that the NBA opposed the bill claiming that it would kill off the affiliation between the league and its royal supporters.

A statement from the NBA during hearing of the Senate of Canada’s Legal and Constitutional Affairs Committee this week claimed that they are no longer bothered with opposing legalization of sports betting in Canada. However, their condition was that there should be the implementation of a suitable legislative structure that would safeguard the veracity of the game. This would however be based upon severe authoritarian obligation as well as technical safeguards.

NBA head Adam Silver claimed that the congress should put in place centralized structure that would give mandate to the state in giving authority in professional sports which would be subjected to stern requirements.

However, other main sport leagues based in North America have been flexible to the idea with C-290 still standing to be a long shot which has been the main basis in which punters in Canada bet on.
