Golf Fans Miss Tiger

Golf Fans Miss Tiger

The sport is missing Tiger since he underwent back surgery and it is feared that the poor show up at tournaments is due to this. Fans are asking “Where is Tiger?”

Although there are other accredited players like Jordan Spieth, Rory Mcllroy and Jason Day who have managed to draw hug audiences, the show up is still not that great.

A golf executive with IMG,Kennerly said, “Tiger still delivers that unconventional fan that golf needs. This was evident when Tiger hurt himself last year and could not play the Honda Classic, where the sales of tickets to the tournament softened a little bit.”

The question at hand is, “Can Tiger Woods be replaced?” Well, I will let you be the judge of that. However, it isn’t much a factor to argue on since Tiger is by far the greatest player of his generation.

Many have said that to them, without Tiger in the game, we are missing something. It has been rumored that Tiger might not return to the sport due to his setbacks with the back surgery. We have not seen him on the course for such a long time it seems like forever.

Tiger however dismissed these rumors on Wednesday after he released a video that shows him taking a full swing with a 9 iron on an indoor swing simulator. “Progressing nicely” was the caption that couldn’t have been missed by anyone with sound mind.

The swing appeared perfect and to many it consoled them with the idea that the golf star will soon be back to wow us.

The timing of Woods back to the game is still unknown. By him not being able to play, the sport has suffered a major blow in terms of dollars and cents. People still want to see and appreciate Tiger’s game. He is still an enormous asset to golf.

Who Would Have Known Alex Gidman Would Retire From Cricket So Soon!

At 34, Alex Gidman, a long time cricket player is forced to retire from the sport he so much loved due to an injury he sustained in his left index finger. Alex was injured towards the end of the last season during a pre-match drill at Durhama.

As last resort, a joint replacement surgery was opted for when he could not flex the joint. The recovery form this surgery, however, did not go as planned. It was to take two weeks, unfortunately, according to Mike Hayton, a specialist, Gidman will not be able to reach the fitness levels required to play professionally.

Gidman is a former captain of Gloucestershire. He played for this team for over a decade after which he signed a two year contract with Worcestershire where he was a batsman for 18 months prior to his injury.

In his career he made 11,622 first-class runs, 4473 in one day cricket and 1448 in T20 alongside 103 first-class wickets and 71 in list A. In 2014 he scored 1278 runs at 45.64 including his career best 264 making this his most prolific first-class season. He then made his move to Worcestershire.

At Worcestershire he struggled with his bat at New Road County. It is so sad that he did not get to play Durham at Chester-Le-Street.

Gidman said, “Obviously my manyyears at Gloucestershire included the majority of my success but I have really enjoyed the last 18 months meeting some fantastic people at Worcestershire. I can’t thank the many coaches, team-mates and supporters enough. It is my wish for everyone whom we have played with to have the best of luck in 2016 and more years to come.”

Steve Rhodes, director of cricket at Worcestershire had this to say, “On behalf of all the players and coaches, we are extremely disappointed for Alex”.

Promising NFL comeback portrayed by Jarryd Hayne

Promising NFL comeback portrayed by Jarryd Hayne

Since October, Jarryd Hayne has been in training for 49ers practice squad. This comes despite being among the 53-squad team for 49ers but would later be demoted to the practicing squad. The former Australian Rugby player was given the two months to have an expanded training on Football before making any entry in the pitch. His promotion followed an injury by guard Alex Boone who was placed among the reserves before he heals his knee. However, the D-day dawned for him and was in the match day squad to face Detroit Lions.

In their 32-17 loss, Hayne showed his amazing skills and was on the spotlight by making a total of 5 receptions and 9 carriers which total to 47 yards along the running back. This was inclusive for his outstanding 11 yard run that resulted positively with 49ers first touchdown. He also showed a classical five-yard reception but would later be pinned down by linebacker Tahir Whitehead.

During the preseason, Hayne was outstanding in all games making a number of appealing runs from his running back position and as a punt returner. This was however not the case at the beginning of the regular season for he made several fumbles with three punts where he lost one in his initial six games. Nonetheless, he finished with average returns of 9.5 yards. Injuries possessed by 49ers seem to give him a second opportunity to prove himself.

The team has a long list of injured players with the likes of Carlos Hyde suffering from a foot injury and Reggie Bush with a knee problem out for the rest of the season. Their replacements Shaun Draughn who made appearance in the first initial games got a knee problem while Mike Davis suffering from a hand injury is not expected back in the pitch no sooner than next week.

Promotion of Hayne comes at the ideal time despite the team having a new recruit DuJuan Harris who was signed last week as well as the services of running back Kendall gaskins. If Hayne is involved in various games after week 17, 49ers will have all the rights to possess him. If this doesn’t happen however, the team will accord him with reserve contract with hopes that he will make the cut for the official NFL squad when regular season resumes.
