How would NFL do in Africa?

American football with the help of the NFL will be globally played. They are soon to set foot in the United Kingdom and also make a return to Mexico City in the course of this year. The NFL association has hopes to extend the American football to Germany in 2017 and in China in 2018. ZiggyAnsah who is from Ghana also has hopes in extending the NFL in Africa. He spoke through the Detroit Lions’ official website where he said that he would love to see one of the NFL games played in Africa. He also stated that Africa has a lot of potential and that one day the NFL would be played on the African soil.

The British colonialism introduced soccer playing to Africa in the 19th century. It was spread through mission schools, military forces and railways. Football has become very popular with 15 energetic NFL players having links to Africa. Christian Okoye who is known as the Nigerian Nightmare and a former Kansas City Chiefs power runner was the first player to ever represent Africa in the NFL. He became known as an inspiration to many young African athletes in 1980. ZiggyAnsah confessed that there were very many Africans participating in the NFL games. He also said that the game was quickly growing in Africa as there were very many young people interested in learning to play the game.

ZiggyAnsah also stated that the young players coming from Africa were also interested in playing for NFL. There are 15 players who are listed to take part in the NFL and 35 more that are known to have experience in playing for the NFL. They are also believed to be from Africa according to the research carried out by NFL. However, it is unfortunate that the NFL is not yet ready to hold a game in Africa in the near future. Though, ZiggyAnsah’s dreams of the NFL being hosted in Africa might come to pass in the next generation if the interest in the game by Africans continues to increase.

JaMarcus Russell clinging to NFL comeback dream

JaMarcus Russell clinging to NFL comeback dream

JaMarcus Russell firmly believes that his NFL career is not yet finished. Russell who was chosen by the Oakland Raiders back in 2007 announced that he was willing to play for the NFL team for free in order to get back in the team. He had been out of the team since 2009. He recently featured in the Sports Illustrated video where he said that he just might come back into the team. He even said he was willing to work as a water boy and then find his way back into the scout team. He had been sending letters to each of the 32 NFL teams last year as he earnestly requested to be brought back in the team. An image of one of those letters addressed to Dallas Cowboys, owned by Jerry Jones, was included in the Sports Illustrated video.

Russell was requesting to be given a chance even if it meant leading the scout team for free for one year. He also took the blame for the horrible image his players had imparted on him, but he was hopeful he was going to do great for the NFL team. Russell admitted to having learnt great lessons in the previous years during his stay in Oakland. His misfortunes had served to make him grow into a better man and he was ready to make his dreams come true if given the opportunity, he pleaded in his letter. He had been struggling back in 2013 to make a comeback in the NFL team. He even joined a personal- training team where he lost more than 30 pounds with the objective of getting the attention of the NFL. He managed to get himself training with the Chicago Bears though he was not asked to join the camp.

With him being 30 years of age, Russell has slimmer chances of being granted a comeback. The only hope he has left is being remembered as an advisory for front offices and novices in the game. He has every reason to want a comeback in the NFL teams.

Braxton Miller shifts from a Quarterback to Wide receiver position

Braxton Miller shifts from a Quarterback to Wide receiver position

Several players have had a chance to shift from one position to another. However, this may have both positive and negative results. However, things seems to be going on better with Ohio State’s Braxton Miller who before becoming the best wide receiver in the country was very amazing in his previous quarterback position from which he was among the All-Big ten.

It was former coach Jim Tressel who recruited Miller into the first league action in college football back in 2011 where he would be mentored by fellow player Terrelle Pryor. Nonetheless, the departure of Pryor and Tressel led the player in accepting the roles of the first team player as a quarterback a position from which he cemented his career.

As a freshman, Miller made his full debut in the second game of the year and clung to that position for his amazing improvements. In the end, Ohio State recorded a 6-7 finish with Miller being named in the Big Ten Freshmen of the Year. Following the appointment of new coach Urban Meyer in 2012, Miller would continue to impress and his coach would always set an example to other players with Miller.

The 2012 year was outstanding for miller who achieved more than 2,000 passes on the yard as well as 15 touchdowns. He achieved the record of most rushing yards of 1271 for the school in one season with 13 touchdowns. He later set a new school record of 3,310 yards in offence which made him achieve the Big Ten Office Player of the Year. Ohio stated finished high on 12-0 record.

After receiving another Big Ten Quarterback of the Year, Miller decided to shift to the wide receiver position in July 2014. However, he had tried to keep the position shift a secret as he recovered from a damaged shoulder. The opening game of the 2015 season against the Buckeyes was not only followed by a win but also a surprise performance of Miller in a new position as a wide receiver. Since then, he has been self-motivated as he has recorded 260 rushing and 341 receiving yards in four touchdowns.

NFL wants player to pay to play for them

NFL wants player to pay to play for them

This is quite an absurd thing, Adam Schefter, who is the ESPN football reporter has come up with new reports on the current discussions taking place between Denver broncos and the San Francisco 49ers, this is quite an interesting discussion as the two members are asking for rights to quarterback Colin Kaepernick. According to Adam Schefter, the two teams have come up with an agreement, and all that is remaining is for Colin to part with millions of dollars without any hesitation, since this is part of a legal deal, he however does not comprehend how that is even possible.

Schefter gave a statement in which he said that the whole idea was stupid, according to what he wrote, Schefter said that the quarterback and the Broncos needed a newly signed and re- written contract, he reported saying that the broncos are not ready to pay Kaepernick his rightfully owned wages. Thus, with all this Adams wants a newly written contract, since Broncos has Kaepernick debt of around 11.9 million dollars, which totals up to 15.9 million dollars according to his employer’s books, this accounts for the arcane NFL practices. According to him, the Broncos state that they are looking for an open cap number and agreement, he states that Kaepernick being asked to part with millions of dollars that he has rightfully earned is an understatement.

This is due to the fact that NFL is a team worth billions and is unjustly asking one of the players to pay them millions of money in order to pay for their team. Arcane accounting practices are meant to safe guard the team owners profits and this is part of the reason why it makes sense, this is otherwise supposed to serve as an example that the agreements most often signed by the country’s well –known sports league are most times false. The question remains, why then would a football reporter want to doubt this kind of thing? Will Kaepernick agree to part with millions of dollars so that he can take part in the NFL games?
